Rock & Roll Night Out

The Sunset Strip is the locale for L.A's most famous rock clubs. Or should I say infamous? River Phoenix died at the entrance of the Viper Room. Careers are born here every week. I think this shot-One of the bars at the Whiskey, shows the atmosphere quite well. The old Jim Morrison picture the old TV.... And some darn strong spirits behind the bar. Pun intended.

For Photographers

This is Paperback Hero, but my point is for aspiring photographers. Look at the light. Think that color balance is essentially randomized. Note that we must run ultra high ISO (1600 in this case)-that's light sensitivity-plus a wide open apeture and still must shoot at 1/30 at best. These were shot without flash. So we get some digital noise, which I hid somewhat via contrast and highlight settings. Nothing fancy no Photoshop just tools that are in Picasa3 Googles excellent photo editor.

I thought it was cool of Ben to sit in. A rare treat to see him play with PBH.

Paperback Hero

A fine show, great performance. Big light show, smoke machine for dramatic light & spectacular music.

Special Guest Guitar

Ben Carey from Aussie band Lifehouse sat in with Paperback at the Whiskey. Great stuff, adding acoustic to the mix. Man I had to learn to adjust my camera through fog fast!

Guitar String Theory

Paperback's Chris Latham just jams, gets lost in the strings. Beautiful soaring riffs!

Yes I do

At the Whiskey, a girl approached me and asked, do you photograph just bands or groupies too. My answer is evident. BTW, she never gave me her number or email. Hey nice lady, write us so we know who you are!

Faster Than A Speeding Shutter

Tommy Kende & Todd Burman are playing faster than...

All The Boys

Left To Right Dale Winters, (Guitar) Toby Rand. (vocals) Jason Pinfold at drums, Tommy Kende, & Todd Burman far right head bangin.

Audience Participation

At the Whiskey
This is why I think Juke Kartel will do well here in tough Los Angeles. Toby Rand has incredible spirit and it just blasts out from him. Charisma is a weak word, not up to this mans performance. What does this get a band? Fan support, in this case literally. If anyone knows who this guy is please comment. This was late in the show, likely about 12:30

The Curtain Awaits

The Whiskey a Go Go and "Dayle Gloria Presents"- Nelson, Paperback Hero and Juke Kartel. I have heard from Dayle and JK manager Harvey Russel & I'm in to shoot at least JK.

Brian of Paperback Hero has always welcomed my camera to their concerts.
